چکیده

The paper extends recent work on a modi"ed Smith predictor strategy, which leads to signi"cant improvements in its regulatory capacities for reference inputs and disturbances. High-order or long dead time stable, integrating and unstable plants are modelled as lower-order plant models with a longer time delay. The controllers are designed so that the delay-free component of the output is tuned to be either a "rstor second-order response if there are no modelling errors in the assumed plant transfer function. Plant model transfer functions and the controller parameters are estimated using exact analysis from the peak amplitude and frequency of the process output obtained from a single-relay feedback test. Illustrative examples show the simplicity and superiority of the proposed controller design method over previously published approaches both for the setpoint response and for the load disturbance rejection. IMC based automatic tuning method for PID controllers in a Smith predictor configuration

In this paper, a new approach is presented based on relay autotuning of a plant to find parameters for its control using a Smith predictor. A Smith predictor configuration is represented as its equivalent internal model controller (IMC) which provides the parameters of the proportional-integral (PI) or proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller to be defined in terms of the desired close...

Neural-Smith Predictor Method for Improvement of Networked Control Systems

Networked control systems (NCSs) are distributed control systems in which the nodes, including controllers, sensors, actuators, and plants are connected by a digital communication network such as the Internet. One of the most critical challenges in networked control systems is the stochastic time delay of arriving data packets in the communication network among the nodes. Using the Smith predic...

Autotuning Principles for Time-delay Systems

This paper presents a set of single input – output (SISO) principles for tuning of continuous-time controllers used in autotuning schemes. The emphasis of designed autotuners is laid to SISO systems with time delay. Autotuners represent a combination of relay feedback identification and some control design method. In this contribution, models with up to three parameters are estimated by means o...

Bilateral Teleoperation Systems Using Backtracking Search optimization Algorithm Based Iterative Learning Control

This paper deals with the application of Iterative Learning Control (ILC) to further improve the performance of teleoperation systems based on Smith predictor. The goal is to achieve robust stability and optimal transparency for these systems. The proposed control structure make the slave manipulator follow the master in spite of uncertainties in time delay in communication channel and model pa...

Smith Predictor Based Autotuners for Time-delay Systems

This paper presents a set of autotuners for single input-output systems with time delay. Autotuners represent a combination of relay feedback identification and some control design method. In this contribution, models with up to three parameters are estimated by means of a single asymmetrical relay experiment. Then a stable low order transfer function with a time delay term is identified. Contr...
